Last week, we packed up and headed up to Michigan to see some of our family. We drove 8 hours north to Sault Ste Marie (pronounce Soo Saint Marie, for those of you who are not french).
Sault Ste Marie is in the upper peninsula of Michigan, on the other side of the Mackinac bridge. So we were WAY up north!
The Mackinac Bridge...obviously, I didn't take this picture!

Surprisingly, it was really warm and nice outside (but the mosquitos were awful!).

I have tons of pictures to share...you might want to skip the rest of this post! :)
Here we go...
Maya falling asleep in the van, holding her chicken nugget

When we got to Sioux Ste Marie, we stopped by this fountain near the locks. It changed colors and was really pretty.
After over 8 hours in the car...we were all exhausted.
Also, baby wraps=NOT flattering

Poor Maya...she was done!
After the fountain, we headed to Grandpa's house and spent the night. The next morning, we played outside. It was so beautiful and peaceful there.

The girls got to ride on Grandpa's golf cart

And they had their first four-wheeler ride! They loved it! We kept hearing, "more ride? more ride?"

The girls with Daddy and Grandpa

We spent two nights with Grandpa, then headed south to Petoskey, Michigan.
My husband was born in Petoskey and his aunt, uncle, and cousins still live there. Petoskey was such a beautiful city--I think I'm in love and want to move there. We took the girls to a park that was right on Lake Michigan. It was so beautiful!
Can you see Lake Michigan in the background?

Brooks and his cousin, Calvin, climbed to the top of this little waterfall

There was a little creek that the girls got to play in

Aunt Mikkie and Olivia
Uncle Paul and Olivia
Brooks' cousin Calvin started a pedicab business in Petoskey a few years ago...we got to ride in one of the pedicabs for the first time! It was so fun!
Check out their website: Petoskey Pedicab
We highly recommend the pedicabs!
FYI, this guy is not Calvin. It's one of his employees. :)
Later that evening, we headed down to Torch Lake, Michigan, to spend some time with Brooks' Aunt Laura and family. Torch Lake is pretty much the most amazingly beautiful lake ever. The water is so blue and clear---you can see the bottom!

Sweet little cousins, A and G...they are getting so big!
Aunt Laura and Maya
Aunt Laura and Gigi
Daddy and Maya in the cold water!

Can you see how clear the water is? So pretty.
Favorite boys!

Olivia loved her cousin G! She was smiling like crazy at her!

We spent a night at Torch Lake, then left the next afternoon. I did NOT want to leave! I'm still having Torch Lake withdrawals. Someone get me some Librium!
We drove down to Portage and spent the night with Brooks' mom and dad, then went to church in Chesterton the next morning, then went to Valpo for lunch with my momma and sister. The girls fell asleep in the van almost immediately after church.

We had lunch, then headed home! It was a great little vacation. We got to spend time with family, which was priceless. The other 'priceless' thing on the trip was the DVD player/TV in our van. The girls watched HOURS of Elmo on the drive.
Thank you, technology, for peace and quiet!
If you made it this far in my insanely long post, WHEW! Thanks for sticking with me.
