Hey there, friends!
Something HUGE has happened in the past few days. We. Have. Internet!!!!
When we moved here in June, we decided to be frugal (that whole zero income thing and all) and go without internet. We've been without cable for a while (no big deal) but never without internet.
Some things were nice...I was pretty disconnected from facebook and other things like Pinterest that suck my time. Other things were really hard....online banking, keeping in touch with some friends/family, finding recipes, finding book reviews to see what I wanted to read next, blogging, and shopping. I love online shopping.
Data went quickly on our phones, and we're so close to Canada that my data would only work early in the morning or late at night (at least, this is what we think was happening...it was trying to use Canadian towers during the busy time during the day?).
We spent time at McDonald's using their free wifi :) and mooched off of friends when possible.
But now, those days are over! We have internet! I'm so happy!
So what have we been up to?
We moved to Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan at the end of June. Brooks resigned from his pastoral position after a very clear word from God. We knew we needed to be faithful but didn't have anywhere to go.
We were living in a parsonage, so we had to leave. Thankfully, Brooks' mom and dad bought his grandpa's house in Sault Ste. Marie (the Soo) a few years ago, and it's been sitting empty. They were generous enough to let us live in it while we were between churches.
We expected to be here for a few weeks. When we left Sheridan, we had 4 churches interested in us and we were interested in them. So we assumed we would only be here a few weeks. Well, one by one, God shut those doors.

Now it's been four months. We enrolled the girls in school, settled in, and made friends.
Brooks accepted two part time jobs here in the Soo, working for two different churches with separate needs that his gifts could fill.
And I just got a nursing job up here!
We are still looking for a full time pastoral position for Brooks, but know that for now, this is where we are called. The best part is that Brooks' grandpa still lives up here in the Soo. He had hip surgery this summer, so we've had the privilege of being here to help him get back on his feet (literally!). Seeing my girls develop a relationship with their only living great grandfather has been priceless.
So stay tuned. More to come. I can't wait to share some of the way God has answered prayer and been faithful to our little family!
